When I started working in clay something magical happened. Strange, mysterious and sometimes funny things grew out of my fingertips and it fascinated me. I have worked in many mediums but clay is my favorite and especially porcelain whose white surface can be painted on like new paper or canvas. Porcelain is finicky clay, but when it works it is gorgeous. The processes involved with clay are primal-everyone played with clay as a child so there is an element of play for me even now. After I have made a piece I like to keep it around for a while so I can figure out what it’s all about.
